Year 1 - Miss Smith 2024 - 2025

Welcome to our Year 1 class. Our team of adults this year includes Miss Smith. Mrs Armstrong and Miss Crabb. We will work closely together to ensure all the children make good progress throughout the year. In the mornings, we teach our Maths and English lessons. For phonics, which is delivered using the Read, Write Inc scheme, all the children will be in groups according to ability. These groups will change according to the progress made throughout the year. The Read, Write Inc scheme is really challenging and focuses heavily on the importance of developing good reading fluency as early as possible. Your support at home in practising reading will be really important throughout the year.

In the afternoons, we focus on all the other aspects of the school curriculum.
